House Of Dance offers; Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballet, Cabaret, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Contemporary, Beginners & Tiny Tots classes for all ages, genders and levels. On top of our standard group classes we offer exam classes, eisteddfod troupes and private lessons. Our fresh, passionate and dedicated House Of Dance team will ensure that every need, expectation and interest for every student is met.
Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, movies, music videos and commercials. People enjoy watching jazz dancers, as the dancing is fun and energetic. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, big leaps and quick turns.
Hip hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip hop music, that evolved from the hip hop culture. Hip Hop allows dancer’s to express their individual style and originality. Hip-hop includes various moves such as popping, locking and krumping, and even house dance. Improvisation and personal interpretation are essential to hip-hop dancing.
Tap dancing is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Whether it be traditional or street tap, dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. At House Of Dance our classes are structured by the Australian Teachers Of Dance ballet syllabus.
Ballet serves as a backbone for many other styles of dance, as many other dance genres are based on ballet. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries. Ballet uses music and dance to tell stories. Ballet dancers have the ability to transport an audience to another world. Cabaret has a mix of elements featuring comedy, song, dance, and theatre. Cabaret style is a smooth and stylized version of jazz dance.
Musical Theatre is one of the major performing art forms attracting audiences around the world. It draws together the performing arts strands of singing, acting, dance and movement. Musical theatre repertoires of famous musicals form the past and today are relived in House Of Dance classes.
These dance styles reject many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. Lyrical and modern dance was created as a rebellion against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance. This dance genre is often done in bare feet.
Contemporary is a similar style of dance to lyrical/modern. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation.Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.
Beginners & Tiny Tots
At House Of Dance we offer classes to students between the ages of 3 and 6. These classes introduce the foundations of dance, class atmosphere and social interaction with other children their age. Ballet, Tap and Jazz classes run for 30 minutes each.
Eisteddfod Troupe class is by audition and invitation only. In this class we offer the most current, cutting-edge training for those students that want to take dance more seriously and break into the dance industry as a career. We travel between North Coast, NSW and Gold Coast, QLD for performances and competitions.
Private lessons are offered to those students that would like one-on-one time with their teacher whether it be to for students that want more of a challenge then what their receiving in their classes or, we do offer private lesson to those students that was struggling with in their classes and would like extra tuition.
